This lesson studies special guards after the approach. They are playable for Black, but White should avoid being pulled into a slow local fight.

Future follow-up

Corner entry timing changes by shape

Some separate low-corner shapes can be answered by entering the corner immediately. In the Little Gate shape, entering too early is cramped because Black can seal White in.

Do not import a corner-entry answer from another shape without checking the surrounding stones.

Related oddities

Odd 3-3 and 5-5 style points

Against very unusual points, the practical answer is still calm: strengthen White or enter the corner only when the shape actually supports it.

The recurring principle is efficiency, not punishing every strange move immediately.
